HIV and LGBTQI activism workshop in Brussels

On February 9-10, 2017 «New Generation’ Humanitarian NGO’s representative Arman Sahakyan participated in «Capacity building: the role of LGBTI organizations to address HIV and STIs» workshop organized by ILGA-Europe in Brussels, Belgium.

During the 2 days of the workshop the following topics were discussed:

  • Concept of Key populations
  • HIV pathology, treatment, transmission routes and prevention (new approaches)
  • Other STI’s
  • LGBTI and HIV activism
  • Barriers to LGBTI activism on HIV and STIs and how to overcome them
  • Advocacy for promotion of PrEP in countries

 

One of the most important parts of the meeting were: discussion of PrEP as a new approach for HIV prevention in the world and drafting strategies for the cause.

In the end of the meeting the participants developed cooperation projects’ implementation plans for upcoming years.
