The “Discrimination: existing problems and means of fight” discussion took place on December 16, 2015 which was organized by the “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO with financial support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia and Open Society Foundations / Armenia.
The aim of the discussion was to support processes addressed to elimination of discrimination in Armenia by speaking up about the existing problems and trying to create a dialogue platform of cooperation between local, international and state organizations.
Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, Ombudsman’s office, diplomatic and international organizations functioning in Armenia and CSOs, individuals and journalists participated in the discussion. This meeting gave an opportunity to the participants to get a comprehensive understanding of the forms of discrimination.
The representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia opened the event by his opening speech during which he greeted the guests and highlighted the importance of the organized discussion announcing that the Federal Republic of Germany is against any type of discrimination and happy to support those organizations which fight discrimination. Mr. Rainer thanked the OSF/Armenia for supporting and “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO for organizing the discussion, inviting all the key stake holders to one table and for creating the dialogue platform.
The head of the OSF/Armenia Mrs. Larisa Minasyan also greeted the guests and highlighted the fact of establishing such a platform. She mentioned that OSF/Armenia pays a special attention to the issues concerning discrimination and thanked the Embassy and other actors which are engaged in the process of fight against discrimination as well.
The president of the “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO Mr. Sergey Gabrielyan moderated the first half of the discussion during which the following speakers talked about problems related to discrimination:

After presentation of the discrimination situation in different spheres of life the deputy director of the OSF/Armenia Mr. David Amiryan moderated the session for local and international organizations, state institutions to present their approaches and projects related to elimination of discrimination.

In the end of the discussion the representative of the “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO Mr. Arman Sahakyan presented the “Youth against discrimination” project which has been funded by the OSF/Armenia. Mr. Arman Sahakyan read the statement / call for anti-discrimination law addressed to the Government of Armenia and the National Assembly as the final result of the project already signed by more than 40 NGOs and state organizations.
