On World AIDS Day “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO organized a meeting discussion with the participation of local and international organizations.
Next, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia, H.E. M. Bernhard Matthias Kiesler was given the floor who also spoke about the existing issues of discrimination against LGBTI+ people in Armenia and acknowledged the activity of “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO in this field.
Expert Mihran Sevumyan presented the brief description of the research on HIV Related Services Needs and Quality Assessment among MSM and Trans* People, IDUs , FCSW and People Living with HIV, which was done within the framework of “Support and Reinforcement of the Armenian Civil Society Organizations in Response to HIV through Advocacy” project implemented with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia.
Next, the financial expert of the project Aharon Barseghyan presented the financial analysis of the conducted research.
The result of the two researches is intended to submit as a proposal to include within the 2017-2021 RA National Programme on the Response to HIV.
Lawyers of “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO Hayk Hayrapetyan and Anahit Mkrtchyan presented the results of the documented cases of violation of human rights in the field of healthcare, research on RA legislation conducted within the framework of Right to Health project implemented with the financial support of Eurasian Coalition on Male Health, the legal cases pursued by the NGNGO, recorded successes and legislative gaps in the legal framework of the RA.
The necessity of involvement of the most-at-risk groups in the decision making process as well as the necessity of staff change in the Country Coordinating Mechanism against HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria and including representatives of MSM and Trans* communities in the staff were also discussed at the meeting.
Trans* community representative Jasmine and MSM community representative Emil Avetisyan spoke about the needs, gaps, problems and issues of their communities.
President of “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO made the closing speech of the meeting by calling to continue the joint fight against AIDS as well as against hate speech, stigma and discrimination.
The meeting-discussion is organized within the framework of Support and Reinforcement of the Armenian Civil Society Organizations in Response to HIV through Advocacy project implemented by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in Georgia and within the framework of Right to Health project implemented by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with the financial support of Eurasian Coalition on Male Health (ECOM), from the funds of Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
